Edges of covers very lightly rubbed, edges of text block lightly soiled, faint reading crease to spine, gift inscription to verso of half title, contents otherwise clean and tight. Very good £3.50

A scholarly study that sets the discoveries of the scientific revolution against witchcraft, magic and superstition. Small ownership signature to front end paper, edge of text block soiled in places, trivial spots to a couple of margins, text clean and tight. Very good £8

A fairly comprehensive study of the various aspects of the divine feminine, including  instructions for practical ritual  working and an annotated list of goddesses of the world, all from the overall viewpoint of Gardnerian Wicca. Fine in very good (minor creasing to edges, a few minor marks, faint spotting to inner flaps) d/w £12

The texts of Eight Sabbats for Witches & The Witches’ Way, forming a comprehensive practical account of Wicca. Covers lightly edge-rubbed, upper corners of covers lightly creased and bumped with some slight creasing to upper corners of first and last few leaves. Lacks title page, but otherwise a near very good, textually complete clean, cheap copy £3.50

A diverse selection of historical accounts of witchcraft and the cunning tradition in Essex, including contributions by Reginald Scot, George Gifford, Matthew Hopkins and many others. Ex lib but minimal trace, labels to front end paper, stamp to verso of title, small stamps to title page and final margin, no exterior marks. Faint wrinkling to top margins of first few leaves, text clean and tight. Overall, still a near very good copy in very good d/w £6

Edges of text block a little soiled, text lightly but evenly tanned, and otherwise clean and tight. Very good in very good – (lightly rubbed, top edge a little worn, crease to front inner flap) d/w £5

Hole, C, Witchcraft in England, 1st edition, Batsford 1945, 8vo, red cloth with gilt titles to spine, 168pp including index, with a frontispiece, illustrations in the text and plates (on ordinary paper) by Mervyn Peake. A popular history of English witchcraft. Covers rubbed and marked, spine darkened, corners and spine ends rubbed, corners lightly bumped, faint red staining to lower corners of last couple of leaves of index, not affecting text which is all still clean and tight. A good + copy overall £6

Reading crease to spine, clear laminate layer lifting slightly at edges of covers. Overall, still a very good and internally clean and tight copy £8

W16B. Kieckhefer, R, European Witch Trials, 1st edition, R.K.P 1976, 8vo, blue cloth with gilt titles to spine, 10 + 181pp including index. A scholarly study of the trials conducted between the 14th and 16th centuries, with a clear emphasis on magic and sorcery in its social context. The author also includes a comprehensive calendar of trial dates with brief commentary. Fine in near fine (spine very slightly faded) d/w £25
