M221C. Whitfield, R, New Age Electronics Catalogue, privately published stapled 8vo pbk. no date (c.1990s), 26pp, with 1pp supplement and a coloured photograph  of pieces of equipment loosely inserted; devices for psychic awareness, self improvement, mind power, etc; a few trivial marks to covers, near fine £2.50

M225G. Wilson, J, The Solar System of the Ancients Discovered, 1st edition, 2nd issue, Longman, Brown, Green, Longmans & Roberts 1856, 8vo, complete in two volumes, matching blue cloth with gilt titles to spines and decorative black borders to boards, 8 + 486pp + 24pp advertisements & 8 + 475pp + 26pp appendix with separate title page dated 1858, with diagrams in the text throughout volume one and one in volume two. Wilson’s pioneering work is both a well researched and fairly comprehensive study of ancient cosmology, as found encoded in ancient monuments through cosmic proportion and sacred geometry. Worldwide in scope from the prehistoric stone circles of Great Britain and Europe to the pyramids of Ancient Egypt and Mexico, it set the tone for many later writers. Corners bumped, corners and spine ends worn, joints very worn with some closed splitting, spines slightly darkened, boards a little edge rubbed, and slightly marked in places, internally some occasional minor foxing or soiling, mostly to margins, stitching very slightly strained in a couple of places, text otherwise tight and largely clean throughout, overall still a good, solid and textually better set of the increasingly scarce, and best issue of the original edition £275

MAA229A. Wiseman, S, Writing Metamorphosis in the English Renaissance 1550-1700, 1st edition, Cambridge University Press 2014,  8vo, black cloth with gilt titles to spine, 10 + 245pp including index, with a few photographic illustrations in the text; a scholarly study of animal transformations and mythical creatures in Renaissance literature set against the backdrop of Ovid’s Metamorphosis; fine in near fine (light crease to lower corner of front panel, trivial rubbing to top edge of front panel) d/w £30

M230AA. Wright, E, Book of Legendary Spells, 1968, Marlar 8vo pbk. 1974, 10 + 226pp including index, with a few diagrams in the text; a substantial compilation of spells and related ritual drawn from various traditions including voodoo and witchcraft; faint reading crease to spine, a few minor marks to covers, which are slightly edge-bumped in places, ownership inscription to front end paper, glued binding parting in one place but contents clean and still tight, a good + or very slightly better copy overall £8

M230A. Yates, F, Shakespeare’s Last Plays: A New Appraisal, 1st edition, R.K.P 1975, 8vo, blue cloth with silver titles to spine, 12 + 140pp including index + 8 plates. A scholarly study, with particular reference to Cymbeline, Henry VIII, and The Tempest; their symbolism investigated from the viewpoint of Tudor mythology, religious tolerance, and Renaissance magic. A couple of trivial marks to edges of text block, a near fine copy of this uncommon title in like d/w £18
